E.H 카의 역사란 무엇인가 2.2. 역사서술의 입장과 한계 2.3. 매스미디어 시대의 역사서술 3. 역사서술에서 시각이미지의 종류와 역할 3.1. 시각이미지의 상징체계와 기호체계 3.2. 사진과 시각서술 3.3. 복원(復元)과 시각서술 3.4. 극화(劇化)된 재현(再現)과 시각서술 3.5. 정보그래픽과 시각서술 3.6. 만화와 시각서술 4. 서술주체의 해석에 따른 편집디자인 4.1. 실증해석에 따른 편집디자인 4.2. 입장해석에 따른 편집디자인 5. 결 론 참고문헌 국문초록 모든 디자인행위가 그러하겠지만 특히 역사서를 만드는 일은 각 장르를 넘어 역사에 대한 인식과 행위의 진지함에서부터 출발해야 한다. ‘역사서술에서 시각이미지의 역할과 편집디자인’이라는 논제는 ‘역사서술이란 무엇인가’의 질문에서부터 그동안 일반적으로 역사서술이 역사가에 의해서만 또는 문자중심으로 서술된 것만을 역사서술이라 인식되어온 것에 대한 문제제기이다. 오늘날 역사서술은 공인된 역사가를 넘어 역사를 서술하고자 하는 모든 분야의 사람들에게까지 확장되어 있다. 또한 역사서술에 사용되는 시각이미지는 문자중심 서술의 참조기능차원에서만 사용되는 것이 아니라, 시각이미지의 문법체계, 즉 상징체계·기호체계에 의해 구성된다. 실제로 역사서에 등장하는 유적·유물·사건사진, 복원(復元)된 모형이나 그림, 극화(劇化)된 재현(再現)그림, 정보그래픽, 만화 등은 그 자체가 역사를 기록하고 서술하는 또 하나의 방식이다. 그리고 더 나아가 문자와 시각이미지를 종합하는 편집디자인은 역사해석과 함께, 서술된 문자와 시각이미지를 적극적으로 다루고 해석하는 역사서술의 한 행위이다. 주제어 역사서술, 시각서술, 서술주체 Abstract All acts of design will be like that, but especially the act to design a historic book is an interdisciplinary process which starts from recognizing history and being serious about the act by itself. The topic <Editorial Design and The Role of Visuality in the Historical Descriptions> starts from the question ‘What is a historical description?’ We try to raise the problem that until now only descriptions written by historians or just ‘written’ descriptions were accepted as historical descriptions in general. Nowadays historical descriptions are extended to what people from all kinds of fields have predicated, overcoming what officially recognized historians have written. Also, the visual images used in historical descriptions are not only derivatives of text-based descriptions but constructed as symbolic and emblematic systems. Actually, the photographs of historic relics, visually reconstructed models or pictures, revivals of sceneries in drama or plays, informative graphic magazines, cartoons are by themselves methods of documenting and describing history. Furthermore, editing design, integrating the written letters and visual images together, involves a similar process of actively interpreting written text and visual image such as the historian when he chooses historical material.
