| 내용 | 빛을 이용한 미디어 테크놀러지 아트의 조형언어에 관한 연구 - 라이트아트 (Light Art)를 중심으로 - A Research for Figurative Language of Media Technology Art Using Light - Focusing on Light Art - 김 재 원 한양대학교 응용미술학과 Kim Jae Won Hanyang university ================================== 1. 서론 1-1. 연구배경 및 목적 1-2. 연구방법과 범위 2. 미디어 테크놀러지 아트의 발전과 조형언어의 특성 2-1. 현대 미술에서의 미디어 테크놀러지 아트의 등장 2-1-1. 미디어 테크놀러지 아트의 미술사적 발전 2-1-2. 미디어 테크놀러지 아트의 유형 2-2. 현대미술과 라이트아트 2-2-1. 확장매체로서의 빛의 개념 2-2-2. 공간구성과 빛의 상관관계 2-2-3. 빛의 조형적 특성과 환영(Illusion) 2-3. 미디어 테크놀러지 아트의 위상과 전망 3. 라이트 아트의 표현탐구 3-1. 비 물질성 (Immateriality) 3-2. 빛의 표현재료 4. 라이트 아트의 관점과 공간사례분석 4-1. 댄 플래빈 4-2. 케이트 소니어 4-3. 브루스 나우만 4-4. 제임스 토렐 5. 결론 참고문헌 논문요약 20세기로 접어들면서 추구하는 미의 본질을 실생활에 직접 끌어들여 관념론적인 감상이 아닌 실질적인 체험을 가능하게 해 줄 수는 없을까에 관한 해결방안의 탐구가 끊이질 않았다. 오늘날 급격한 미디어 테크놀러지의 발달로 인한 새로운 매체의 사용은 단순히 표현방법의 확장이라기보다 예술의 질을 변화시키는 중요한 요인으로 작용한다. 그러므로 전자예술이 현대미술에 끼친 영향들을 파악하고 연구함에 앞서 미디어 테크놀러지의 미술사적 도래의 첨단과학 매체발전의 토대를 규명하기 위해 고도과학기술사회에 부합되는 미디어 테크놀러지 특성정립 및 창작의 영역확대를 꾀하고자 한다. 특히 현대의 조형예술은 시각예술이라는 점에서 생각하면 모두 빛과 떼 놓을 수 없을 만큼 빛의 사용은 커다란 비중을 차지하고 있다. 또한 기술공학을 미술에 적용한 전통은 이미 20세기 초, 미래파 선언에서 암시된 움직임과 광선의 반짝임에 라이트(light)를 사용함으로써 공학적 요소는 현대미술의 뚜렷한 전통을 계숭함과 동시에 새로운 모험으로 비쳐졌고 1970년대에 들어서서 이 시도는 인공광원, 혹은 자연광원등의 라이트를 본격적으로 작품의 표현재료로 이용함으로써, 예술과 과학의 결합이라는 보다 새로운 조형적 가능성을 나타내었다. 라이트 아트에 있어서 빛은 단지 공간을 비추고 공간을 형성하는 요소로서가 아니라 빛으로서 감각을 자극하고 그러한 자극에서 더 나아가 촉각적으로 느껴지고 만져지는 듯한 착각을 일으키게 한다. 이에 본 연구는 미디어 테크놀러지 아트의 미술사적 발전과 조형언어로써의 특성을 살펴보고, 논문목적에 의거해 라이트 아트의 개념과 조형적 특성을 통해 현대미술과 전자예술의 상관관계, 표현탐구를 파악해본다. 따라서 금세기에 등장한 고도 과학기술적 방법을 이용한 라이트 아트작품에서 빛이 공간에 미치는 영향과 빛의 표현방법, 공간의 구성요소와 빛과의 관계, 빛에 의한 공간의 조형성을 분류, 작가의 작품사례를 연구하고 진단해 봄으로써 새로운 현대조형예술의 매체로의 위상을 정립시키려는데 연구의 의의를 두고자 한다. 주제어 미디어 테크놀러지 아트, 전자예술, 라이트아트 Abstract As the 20th century began, studies on solutions to enable practical experience, not idealistic appreciation, by applying the essence of beauty to real life have been continued. Today, use of new media due to the rapid development media technology functions as an important factor changing the quality of art rather than mere expansion of expression methods. Therefore, the current study aims to establish characteristics of media technology corresponding to the advanced technological society and expand areas of creation in order to find the foundation for development of up-to-date scientific media in terms of art history before analyzing and studying the influence of electronic art on modern art. In particular, use of light occupies a big portion in modern formative art, so it is impossible to remind formative art without regard of light in the view of that it is another visual art. In addition, by a tradition applying technology to art in the beginning of the 20th century, technological factors were considered new challenge at the same time it succeeded clear tradition of modern art by using light for movement and glitter of light suggested by the manifesto of Futurists. Also in 1970s, this attempt presented a new formative possibility of combination between art and science by using light like artificial light or natural light as expression materials of works. In light art, light evokes an illusion that light stimulates sense, and further, makes feel as if it is felt and touched, not just an element lighting and forming space. Therefore, the current study examines art historical development of media technology art and its characteristics as formative language, and analyze correlations between modern art and electronic art through the concept of light art and formative characteristics on the basis of the purposes of the study. Accordingly, the study a meaning to establish the state of media technology art as a medium of new modern formative art by studying the influence of light on space in light art works using up-to-date scientific methods introduced in this century, expression methods of light, spatial constituent elements and their relationships with light, spatial formative feature by light, and works of artists.
