| 내용 | 경제적 개념으로서의 사회적 디자인 고찰 Research on social design as an economic concept 강 병 길 숙명여자대학교 디자인학부 교수 Kang, Byung-Gil Sookmyung Women's University * 본 연구는 숙명여자대학교 2008년도 교내 연구비 지원에 의해 수행되었음 --------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. 서 론 1-1. 연구배경 및 목적 1-2. 연구범위 및 방법 2. 디자인의 사회성과 사회적 디자인 2-1. 디자인의 사회성 2-2. 사회적 디자인의 발생과 영역 2-3. 사회적 디자인의 재발견 3. 사회적 디자인과 윤리적 소비자 3-1. 윤리적 소비자의 형성과 변화 3-2. 사회적 디자인과 윤리적 소비자의 관계 3-3. 창의적 소비 프로세스의 형성 4. 경제적 개념으로서의 사회적 디자인고찰 4-1. 경제성의 인식변화 4-2. 사회적 기업의 의미 4-3. 경제적 개념으로서의 사회적 디자인접근 5. 결 론 참고문헌 논문요약 오늘날의 발달된 물질문명과 정보화는 과거 산업혁명으로부터 촉발된 경제적 대량생산 방식과 자본축적을 통한 과학기술의 발전에서 기인하는바가 크다. 그러나 이러한 발전의 이면에는 유한한 지구의 자원을 무한한 경제적 성장의 논리에 희생시키며 이윤만 추구하는 기업과 합리성만 추구하는 소비자 간의 밀고 당기는 경제적 논리가 존재해 왔다. 이러한 경제적 논리는 합리적 이성주의에 근간한 산업발전의 핵심적 요소이지만 그 이면에는 환경파괴, 인간성소외, 소득불균형과 소비자 주권상실 등의 적지 않은 사회적 문제들을 야기 시켜왔음을 부정할 수 없다. 근래에 들어 이러한 합리적인 경제적 논리가 사회적 불균형의 원인이 되는 상황이 부각되었으며, 이러한 현상은 인간 사회의 형태와 삶의 방식을 유도하는 디자인과 디자이너에게도 영향을 미치고 있다. 디자인은 경제적 논리의 현실화에서 머무는 것이 아니라 언어적 표현의 기능을 가지며 나아가 우리의 사고와 행동에도 영향을 미친다. 따라서 디자인의 역할은 인간의 인지적, 감정적 영역의 매개체로서 인간의 사회적 행태에 작용하는 다면적 기능을 바탕으로 사회적 구조에 영향을 줄 수 있는 시스템적 관점으로 바라봐야 한다. 이렇게 디자인을 통해 인간의 행태를 변화시킬 수 있다는 자각은 디자인의 사회적 기능에 대하여 새로운 관점과 대응을 요구한다. 디자인이 과거에는 경제적 논리의 첨병역할을 했다면, 미래에는 지속가능한 사회를 만들기 위한 사회적 기능과 역할이 더 중요해질 것이다. 본 연구에서는 점차 중요성이 부각되는 디자인의 사회적 역할에 대한 정의를 위하여 사회적 디자인의 역할과 윤리적 소비자와의 새로운 관계를 중심으로 조망해본다. 이를 통해 친환경의 의지는 있으나 실천이 어려웠던 접근방법들이 기업과 소비자 간의 새로운 관계를 설정하는데 있다는 것과 앞으로의 경제적 논리는 단순한 이윤 추구뿐만 아니라 사회적 책임과 역할을 포함한 광의의 개념으로 인식해야함을 본 연구를 통해 밝히고자 하였다. 이를 통해 과거에 저 효율적이고 비경제적이라고 인식되어온 사회적 디자인의 개념을 소비자에게는 창조적 소비를 통한 윤리적 삶의 방식의 실천적 툴로서의 의미와 기업에게는 사회적 책임을 다하는 것이 더 경제적이라는 관점을 제시하였다. 이것은 사회적 디자인을 통해 회복의 경제가 활성화되고 궁극적으로는 지속가능한 사회로의 진입에 디자인과 디자이너의 역할이 새롭게 정의되어야함을 시사한다. 주제어 / 사회적 디자인, 윤리적 소비자, 지속가능디자인 Abstract Developed material civilization and an information-oriented society today are originated mainly from economical mass production method moved from the Industrial Revolution and development of science technology moved from capital accumulation. In the reverse side of this development, there have been an economic logic between profit acquisition of corporation and consumers who only pursue reasonable consumption by sacrificing definite resources of the Earth to indefinite economic development logic. The economic conception is a core factor of the industrial development on the basis of reasonable rationalism, but it is undeniable that it has caused a few social problems such as environment destruction, humanity neglect, income inequality, and loss of consumes' sovereignty in the reverse side. Recently, this reasonable economic logic has been embraced as a cause of social inequality and this fact affects designs and designers who played a role of inducing forms of human society and life style. Design doesn't stay in reality of economic logic, but it has a function of lingual expression and increasingly, it affects our thoughts and behaviors. Therefore, we should see design from a systematic point of view that it affects social structure based on various functions for social structures of humans as a vehicle of recognition and emotion field of ours. The consciousness that human structure can be changed through design requires a new point of view and counterplan. While design played a spearhead of economic logic in the past, social functions and roles in order to make a sustainable society will be more important in the future. In this study, I took a look a social function of design, which its importance is getting embraced, based on roles of social design a nd a relation with ethical consumers. This study is designed to suggest the fact that solutions of approaching methods of environment friendly that was hard to achieve even with our will can ben found in setting a new relationship between corporations and consumers and the future economy logic should be recognized as a broad concept including profit pursue, social responsibility and roles. Through this study, it is suggested that it is more economically efficient for the concept of social design, which was believed to be low efficient and less economical in the past, to be a practical tool of ethical life style through creative consumptions to consumers and corporations accomplishing social responsibility. This implies that the roles of design and designers should be re-defined for revitalizing the recovered economy through social design and entering sustainable society ultimately.
