Barthes)의 신화론에 기초한 지자체 심벌마크의 색채와 의미 간의 정합성에 관한 고찰 - 광역시 심벌마크를 중심으로 - The study on the consistance between colors of symbol marks adopted by the municipal governments of Korea and their meanings based on color symbolism and R.Barthes' mythologies - with focus on symbol marks of Korea's metropolitan cities - 주저자 : 우경훈 서강대학교 영상대학원 Woo kyung-hoon Sogang university 교신저자 : 김 면 성균관대학교 예술학부 Kim myoun Sungkyunkwan university -------------------------------------------------- 1. 서 론 2. 이론적 배경 2-1. 색채의 상징성과 바르트의 기호학 2-2. 지자체 심벌마크에 대한 이해 3. 사례연구 3-1. 사례연구의 목적 및 대상 선정 3-2. 사례분석의 틀 3-3. 사례분석 4. 결 론 참고문헌 논문요약 색채와 심벌마크는 모두 추상적 개념을 구체화시킨 산물이다. 따라서 심벌마크에 구체화된 수많은 상징적 개념들 속에 추상적 개념으로서 색채도 포함되어 있으며, 한편으로는 심벌마크의 한 구성요소로서 색채는 그것이 고유하게 지니고 있는 상징성으로 인해 심벌마크가 추구하는 추상적 가치와 의미를 구체화시키는 수단이 되기도 한다. 이러한 색채와 심벌마크의 상호 연관성을 바탕으로 하여 심벌마크에 나타난 색채를 본 연구에서는 기호의 의미 해석에 중요한 단초를 제공하는 바르트의 신화론의 분석기법을 활용하여 분석함으로써 색채와 대사회적 의미 및 가치를 신화로서 내재화시킨 의미체의 정합성을 고찰하였다. 한편 본 연구의 대상이 된 사례는 광역지방자치단체 중 광역시의 심벌마크였다. 사례연구 대상을 광역시의 심벌마크로 제한한 이유는 광역지자체의 이미지 정책에 있어 어떠한 시사점을 도출하는 것이 곧바로 기초지자체의 이미지 정책 개선에 반영되어 한국의 전체 지자체 심벌마크의 이미지 정책을 내실 있게 추진할 수 있을 거라는 기대 때문이었다. 이에 따라 부산광역시, 인천광역시, 대전광역시, 대구광역시, 광주광역시, 울산광역시의 6개 광역시의 심벌마크에 대한 색채와 내재화된 의미체 간의 정합성을 분석한 결과 다음과 같은 시사점이 도출되었다. 그것은 심벌마크 디자인 기획 시 색채의 풍부한 표현력에 주목할 필요가 있다는 것이다. 주제어 (색채의 상징성, 바르트의 신화론, 지자체 심벌마크) Abstract Both the color and the symbol mark are the product of embodied abstract concepts. Therefore, the color is one of the numerous embodied symbolic concepts of the symbol mark as an abstract concept. On the other hand, the color, as an essential element of the symbol mark, is used to materialize the abstract values and meanings that the symbol mark is pursuing due to its inherent symbolism. Based on this correlation between the color and the symbol mark, this study is intended to analyze the colors presented in the symbol marks with an analytical method used in Roland Barthes’ mythologies, which provides a significant basis on interpretation of symbols, and examine the consistence of symbols that internalizes social meanings and values of colors as myth. Meanwhile, I take the symbol marks adopted by six metropolitan city governments of Korea as the examples for the study in the belief that the municipal governments of Korea will be able to implement image policies of their symbol marks better if certain significant implications are directly reflected in improvement of image policies of the municipal governments. In this sense, I take six symbol marks from the metropolitan cities including Busan, Incheon, Daejeon, Daegu, Gwangju and Ulsan to analyze the consistence between colors and its inherent meanings and finally derivate the important implications; a great attention needs to be paid to plentiful expression ability of colors in planning the design of the symbol mark.
