Dept. of Design & Art ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 논문요약 현대미술은 디지털 테크놀로지의 영향으로 개별 예술 간의 경계뿐만 아니라 다른 영역의 학문들과도 연계되고 예술, 반 예술의 경계마저 사라지게 하고 있다. 또한, 예술 소통의 매개 역할과 기능 역시 변화됨으로써 공유의 상황이 나타나고 있다. 이러한 이유로 하나의 미디어 아트 작품을 둘러싸고도 여러 가지 논제가 발생하고 각기 다른 해석과 입장을 가질 수 있다. 미디어아트 작품 TRAP과 연계되어 있는 네 가지 논제는 상호작용의 환상, 동시대 미술의 기술 콤플렉스, 개념미술의 태생과 종결까지의 아이러니한 전개, 그리고 디지털을 둘러싸고 있는 물질, 비물질 논의가 있다. TRAP은 상호작용에 대한 오늘날 디지털 논의들의 맹신적인 태도에 대하여 현실적으로 불가능한 유토피아적 환상으로 비판하고 대안으로서 공감(empathy)을 제시한다, 동시대 미술의 기술 혐오에 가까운 콤플렉스에 대하여, 또 개념미술로 전염된 국내 미술의 편향적인 시각에 대하여 비판한다. 디지털에 대하여 이미 확인된 듯이 회자되는 비물질 논의에 대해서도 미디어아티스트로서 분명한 입장을 밝힌다. 주제어 미디어아트, 동시대미술, 예술과 기술 Abstract The influence of digital technology to contemporary art has blurred the boundaries between the individual arts and other fields of studies associated with arts and even with anti-art. In addition, art has also changed the role and function of the parameters for communication by sharing its own circumstance. For these reasons, one media art piece can cause various disputes with various topics and stances. Four topics aroused around the TRAP, a large-scaled kinetic interactive installation exhibited in Seoul for The Creators Project supported by Intel & Vice, are the impossible fantasy of interactivity, contemporary art's serious complex about the technology, the ironic development of the conceptual art, and the material/immaterial discourse surrounding digital art.
