| 내용 | 미국 사회에 나타난 촐로 스타일의 패션 이미지 Fashion Images of Cholo Style Appeared on United States of America 함 연 자 동의대학교 패션디자인학과 부교수 Younja Ham Dong-Eui University, Department of Fashion Design ________________________________________________________ 논문요약 본 연구는 1990년대 이후 문화적 영향력이 점차 커지고 있는 멕시코계 미국인의 독특한 패션 스타일인 촐로 스타일의 이미지를 분류하고 조형적 특징과 내적 의미를 파악하고자 했다. 문헌연구를 통하여 촐로의 개념과 역사적, 문화적 배경을 파악하고, 1990년대 이후 대중 매체에 나타난 촐로 스타일의 이미지를 조사하여 분류한 결과는 폭력적 이미지, 고스 이미지, 캐주얼 이미지로 나타났다. 폭력적 이미지는 노동자 계급의 정체성과 공격성이 내포된 헐렁한 실루엣과 오버사이즈의 작업복, 비니와 반다나 등 불법을 암시하는 패션을 통하여 나타났다. 고스 이미지는 ‘라틴적인 것’을 명시하는 역사성과 공포성을 내포하는 모티브들이 문신과 프린트로 표현된 패션으로 주류 사회의 미적 기준에 반하는 현실과 괴리된 기괴한 패션으로 나타났다. 스포티브 이미지는 라티노의 위상 변화와 함께 차별받는 소수 민족으로서의 계급의식을 극복한 젊은 세대에 의해 주도되는 형태로 '건강한 아웃도어 스피릿'과 유색 여성의 신체에 초첨을 맞추는 관능성을 내포하는 자유롭고 경쾌한 스타일의 캐주얼 웨어로 나타났다. 본 연구에서 촐로 스타일은 사회와 관습의 차별과 편견으로부터 자유를 얻고자 하는 욕망이 독특한 시각적 스타일로 나타났음을 알 수 있었다. 주제어 촐로 스타일, 폭력적 이미지, 고스 이미지, 스포티브 이미지 Abstract The purpose of this study is to consider the characteristics of Cholo fashion style and images appeared on United States of America. The results of this study can be summarized as followings. The images of Cholo fashion style are violent image, goth image, and sportive image. Violent image has been involving loose silhouette working cloth, black beanie and bandana implied working class identity and aggression toward Anglo-American society. Goth image has been involving tattoo or prints of religious or grotesque motives in black & white color implied race identity and anti-classic taste. Sportive image has been involving casual wear in various vivid colors implied healthy out door spirit and yellow women's eroticism. In Conclusion, Cholo fashion style is based on desire for freedom from social discrimination and prejudice. Keyword Cholo style, Violent image, Goth image, Sportive image |
