| 내용 | 래픽디자인에 있어서의 현대 실험적 타이포그라피의 고찰 A study on the Contemporary Typography Representation in the Graphic Design 홍 동 식 동명정보대학교 디자인대학 시각디자인학과 ------------------------------------------------------------ Contents 논문요약 Abstract I. 서 론 1. 연구목적 2. 연구내용 및 방법 II. 타이포그라피의 발전 1. 전통 인쇄방법과 타이포그라피 1) 타이포그라피의 정의 2) 전통 활판 인쇄 3) 사진 식자 인쇄 2. 디지털 타이포그라피 III. 현대 실험적 타이포그라피의 고찰 1. 로마자 표기 중심의 실험적 타이포그라피 디자인과 스타일의 변화 1) 1950년대 이후 근대 디자인의 변화 2) 실험성과 디지털 타이포그라피의 등장 3) 디지털 시대의 타입과 해체주의의 영향 4) 뉴 미디어에 따른 타이포그라피 5) 해체주의 이후의 타이포그라피 2. 한글과 실험적 타이포그라피의 고찰 IV. 결론 참고문헌 연구요지 인류가 문자를 발명하여 지식과 정보를 기록하게 된 이래 인류 문명의 가장 중요한 진보 중의 하나는 활판 인쇄의 개발이라고 할 수 있다. 활판에서 사진 식자의 인쇄, 현시대 커뮤니케이션의 가장 큰 변화와 혁명을 가져온 디지털 타입의 기술 혁신은 다양한 모습으로 발전되었다. 1984년 맥킨토시 컴퓨터의 출현으로 인쇄 매체에 있어서 타이포그라피의 환경이 디지털 환경으로 바뀌어 어느 정도의 세월이 지났지만 더욱 다양한 시각적 요소들이 출현하며 발전 하고 있다. 디지털 기술의 발전으로 디자인 작업에 소요되는 시간과 노력이 절감 되었으며 2차원의 정지된 공간에 새로운 도전을 시도하며 미학적 요소를 표현하고 있으나 무분별 한 디지털 지술의 남용으로 독창성 부재나 수준이 떨어지는 작업들이 다수 나타나며 여러 부작용이 출현하여 시각디자인에서 패러다임의 연구가 주목 된다. 본 논문에서는 기술적 혁신에 따른 다양한 인쇄 방법을 고찰하고 디지털 타이포그라피의 새로운 가능성을 제시하여 디지털 환경에서 미래의 인쇄매체의 표현 방법을 가늠해 보고자 한다. 현대의 인쇄매체에 있어서의 타이포그라피 작업들은 전통적인 시각원리에 입각한 정보전달을 위한 가독성 있는 타이포그라피 디자인과 포스트모더니즘의 부류인 해체주의적 사조의 표현력으로 가독성은 배제되고 감각과 감성의 전달을 위주로 한 표현방법이 나타나게 되었다. 이렇듯 어느 것도 정답이 될 수 없는 두 가지의 접근법이 공생하는 현실에서 전통적인 타이포그라피의 원리에 입각한 표현과 이에 다른 방법으로 접근하는 실험적 타이포그라피의 이해와 분석은 디자이너로서는 필요한 해석력이라고 할 수 있다. 또한 이러한 작업들이 한때의 유행으로 지나칠지 혹은 발전되어 다른 요소의 모습으로 표현 될지 연구 예측해 보고자 한다. 그런 의미에서 본 연구에서는 디지털 시대에도 존중되어져야 할 한글 타이포그라피의 활용과 높은 수준의 표현 방법의 연구 또한 기대한다. Abstract 21st century is called digital and information era. As a result visual communication has become more important than any other centuries before. The Macintosh computer was introduced in 1984, which initiated digital design evolution and the desktop publishing. Typography design has been digitalized rapidly with the development of computer technology as well. For the last 20 years or less, typography design has experienced a huge change to the extend which is unprecedented. Digital technique saved designers time working on design and make the process of designing easier. The new temporal and special elements went a new vision and made it possible for typography to challenge a new experiments. The new technology also allows designers to experiment typographical application with new vision, which has been enforced by deconstructionism. This revolution has presented a variety of new possibility in design work. At the same time, it has also breeded the abusive uses of digital technology, which results in the lack of originality and guilty of design. This study examines the changes of typography in the history of design and the digital environment. I investigate experimental works of individual designers and groups. In conclusion the paper analyzes the heritage of typography and digital technology and its defaults, and look to the prospects of experimental typography in digital environment.
